How are these characters dealing with and coping after these life changing events? How has Christina recovered from being raped at a party? How is Michael dealing with the summer months being homeless? So many things have happened since the first book, it's only fitting that you read part 2 to the series of The World We Live In. This is a book where these characters continue to chronicle their lives and the struggles they deal with on a daily basis.

An intriguing story written in poetic form, "The World We Live In" beautifully displays the struggles of realistic characters. Each poem is titled after a different character, displaying a different perspective of the whole story... or more like a collection of stories. Dreams, nightmares, love, money, why do we live and why do we die? These topics are all displayed in this collection. The overall story is a bit hard to follow as it is a multiple point of view book written in poetic form. There's plenty of figurative language and beautiful word play. The stops are well planned out to make the reader think. This is not the type of book I can recommend reading in one sitting or only once. Still, this collection of poetry is enjoyable should you take your time with it. You will want to read this at least 2 to 3 times in order to truly appreciate the beauty of the author's message.

The World We Live In A Poetry Book On Societal Issues Kindle Edition by Jamell Crouthers is a book on the issues of society. Individuals tell their story of how societal issues affected them in life. It is a real book that doesn't pull punches. It is a dark picture of society, but the joy is in overcoming. If you want to look at the impact the social issues have today on individuals this is the book for you.

This book is a bit hard to read in one sitting which is what I tend to do. Especially with shorter books. Not because it was a bad book. Quite the opposite. I had so many emotions reading this, that I had to stop many times just to collect myself. With that being said, I honestly believe that's how a book should be. You should feel for the characters, you should feel like you are one of them. And that's how I felt reading this. I wouldn't consider this book one of poems. They are more short life stories. Some of the stories are not very long. I'd say about two or three pages, but it makes for a good read for someone who likes to read in intervals. This is a very emotional, brutal, honest book and I wouldn't suggest it for anyone under 16. However, on a sad note, it was nice reading, and knowing that I'm not the only one who has been through these things and that I'm not the only one still struggling after many many years. I think this could be a self help book in regards to feeling like you're not alone in a world where people would rather knock you down than lift you up. The thought crossed my mind also that one: this is part TWO... And two: there are enough sad stories to fill at least two books. In a way this book reminds me of chicken soup for the soul series.i would definitely recommend this book, and I myself will most likely read it again also.
